Anton James will be performing feats of magic, mental experiments and psychological humor. He has performed at Orlando Fringe and is a founder of the Magic Estate, a collaborative resource for magicians.
A MAGI World Belly Dance
Founded and directed by “Grande Dame of Mid-East folkloric and belly dance,” Melanie LaJoie, A MAGI’s acts explore the traditional dances of the Middle East. Celebrating 25 years in Orlando, A MAGI regularly performs at theme parks, events and festivals and hosts classes on world and belly dance for beginners through professionals.
Brass Band of Central Florida
Conducted by Chad Shoopman and featuring top Central Florida brass and percussion musicians, the traditional British-style brass band has an active performance schedule of concerts and competitions. Along with six CDs of their recordings, BBCF also has a youth band consisting of 30 talented young musicians.
Central Florida Community Arts presents Legacy!
Through its community of musicians, partnerships with nonprofits, choir, orchestra, youth programs and performances, CFCArts helps artists of all ages connect, serve and perform. Its professional ensemble of Central Florida Community Choir singers, Legacy! performs a variety of styles, including Broadway, gospel, Christmas, patriotic and jazz.
Emotions Dance Company
A contemporary and diverse dance company founded by artistic director and choreographer Larissa Humiston, EDC was voted Best Dance Company in 2012 by The Daily City. The company fuses concepts and movements from jazz, modern, ballet, and lyrical dance in inspiring performances, arts-education programs and active community outreach.
Central Florida’s only full-time single-screen cinema café and home to the Eden Bar and Florida Film Festival, the Enzian specializes in independent and foreign films with unique dining options and a variety of special programming. Special Artlando programming includes five short films presented on the stage screen.
Florida Theatrical Association
As the non-profit presenter of Broadway in Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami since 1989, FTA educates and develops new theater audiences for touring Broadway Theater. The Association has presented over 1,000 performances and funded over $1 million in scholarships and grants, and seen its Class Act performance troupe star on Broadway.
Florida Tribal Dance
FTD specializes in tribal belly dance, which is an American genre that combines elements from Spanish, North African, Middle Eastern and Indian dances. FTD offers weekly classes and workshops with visiting instructors. Their troupes Black V, Blue Caravan and Silver Sage frequently perform at local events and celebrations.
Ibex Puppetry featuringVoci Dance
Helmed by Jim Henson’s daughter Heather, the acclaimed puppetry company is known for its Handmade Puppet Dreams project, Puppet Slam Network and Orlando Puppet Festival. Partnering with Voci Dance for Artlando, the mashup features creations by local artist Wavy Davy Jordan and live percussion from Mark DeMaio.
Integrity Dance Company
The pre-professional dance company and studio founded by artistic director and multiple choreography award winner Maria Weatherbee offers classes in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, lyrical and contemporary dance and gymnastics for competitive and recreational dancers.
Electronic musician Christian Saab combines electric guitars, synthesizers and catchy bass lines into his own blend of pop-punk rock.
Orlando’s resident ballet company (and school) of full-time professional local and international dancers is redefining ballet for modern audiences. Under the artistic direction of Robert Hill, the Ballet will present excerpts from its classical and contemporary repertoire, Peter and the Wolf and Vampire’s Ball.
Orlando Gay Chorus
Founded on Valentine’s Day in 1990, OGC has more than 150 members committed to enriching the community with choral art. OGC produces three independent cabaret shows each year and also performs at United Arts ArtsFest, Come Out With Pride, Orlando Museum of Art’s Festival of Trees and World AIDS Day.
Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival
Orlando Fringe, the longest running Fringe Festival in the United States, is a collaborative celebration of theater providing artists an uncensored environment to showcase new productions. Fringe will present local performers Sara Jones and Tod Kimbro in a one-time-only cabaret and Professor Soap’s Music Machine.
Orlando Philharmonic presents Duo Sole
The area’s resident professional orchestra, the “Phil” features local and international musicians and a calendar of over 125 performances ranging from opera to a rock & roll tribute. Philharmonic principal violinist Mauricio Céspedes Rivero and principal second violinist Alexander Stevens make up Duo Sole and perform a variety of classical styles.
Florida Theatrical Association presents Orlando Repertory Theatre Power Chords
Florida Theatrical Association presents Orlando Repertory Theatre’s Power Chords, an elite group of young “triple threat” singers, dancers and actors who receive training through master classes and real-world experience with industry professionals. The Power Chords have performed at the Don Quixote Awards, National Philanthropy Day and Red Chair Affair.
Orlando Science Center presents Kaboom!
One of the top learning museums in the country, OSC features interactive exhibits, programs like Family Science Night and Science Night Live, two giant-screen theaters and the Crosby Observatory, a colossal refractor telescope accessible to the public. OSC presents Kaboom!, its theatrical performance of science experiments and demonstrations.
Orlando Concert Band
The 65-member wind ensemble of professional and amateur musicians performs throughout Central Florida, including at Orlando’s “Fireworks at the Fountain” Fourth of July celebration and the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. The band’s repertoire goes beyond traditional patriotic bandstand music to include symphonic and orchestral pieces, theme music and jazz.
Orlando Shakespeare Theater – Selections from Les Miserables
One of the top Shakespeare companies in the country, OST produces a regular season, which opens this year with Les Miserables. Performing selections from the production (like the recent pop-up performance at Orlando’s Mall of Millenia), the cast includes Broadway star Davis Gaines.
Phantasmagoria – Fire Dancing
A critically acclaimed Victorian steampunk circus troupe from creator John DiDonna offers Halloween treats and tricks with its unique blend of storytelling, dance, puppetry, aerial work, and fire performance. Phantasmagoria will present a Hindi fire dance accompanied by live cello in the afternoon and will tantalize with atmospheric fire during Artlando After Dark.
Professor Soap’s Music Machine
Fine purveyor of audiovisual eye candy at Artlando After Dark and breakout touring Fringe Festival act, this stimulating music and art performance blends ethereal rock with original animation, LEDs, black lights and glow sticks into a fun, whimsical and cerebral experience.
SAK Comedy Lab
Since 1991, this professional improv troupe has entertained audiences in the style of Whose Line Is it Anyway? by making up characters, scenes and songs on the spot. SAK has been the launch pad for comedian Wayne Brady and writers, actors and producers for Mad TV, Saturday Night Live, and The Office.
Skill Focus Burlesque
Florida’s one and only “Nerdy Burlesque” troupe is the culmination of years of costuming, dance, cosplay, acting, comedy and glue-gunning experience. Current performers include Ruby Darling, Rosita Sparkles and Cherry Bob-omb, who have the goal of global domination, one set of sparkly pasties at a time.
With the goal of providing quality technical training and enhancement of the overall dancer, Valencia College’s dance program will present With a Smile, a tribute to choreographer Derrick Winter’s late colleague Denise Jefferson of the Alvin Ailey School of Dance.
Voci modern dance company is known for its site-specific dance pieces. They have interacted with Orlando’s oldest oak tree on the grounds of the Mennello Museum, with a fairy ring of Doug Rhodehamel’s paper-bag mushrooms, and, most recently, with Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir’s life-size cast-iron figures at Orlando Museum of Art.
Intricate spatial patterns, powerful floor work and delicate gestures grounded in the influence of modern dance greats make Yow Dance one of Central Florida’s most dynamic dance companies. They have performed at Theatre Downtown, Seminole State College Performing Arts Theatre and the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival.
